I remember a film I watched where (the only scene I remember!) a middle aged man injects his wife (I think he was a doctor turned crazy) with a paralyzing substance, then puts her in the bathtub and turns on the cold tap and leaves. Then his wife lies there watching the water rise and rise up to her chin as she stares at her foot trying to pull the cord of the plug out.
